Blog: Against Pro-Housing Hauteur
In this Part II of an exclusive blog series, OBI's former data analyst Ipso Cantong joins an analysis of a novel database of municipal zoning reform efforts across the United States with a deconstructive treatment of the housing political infrastructure, and those movements that contest the desideratum of land-use and zoning reform therein. "Against Pro-Housing Hauteur" takes the pro-housing collective as an object of critical analysis and problematizes this movement, its development and its logical assumptions. Read this blog post here. And see Part 1, "The Destabilization of American Zoning."

Blog: Making Sense of Authoritarian Populists’ Wins, Losses, and Shifting Relationships in 2024's Summer of Chaos
"Just a few days before Biden announced he won’t stand for office, Trump chose extremist Ohio Senator JD Vance as his running mate. This choice is perhaps an omen of what’s to come if Trump is to win the election, as Vance embodies a rupture with previous Republican dogma and the consummation of the GOP Trump takeover."
Read the latest blog post by Míriam Juan-Torres González, Head of Research at OBI's Democracy & Belonging Forum. |
This new article by Assistant Director Stephen Menendian published in the Journal of Law & Public Policy draws lessons and makes predictions about the future of zoning reform and the challenges the pro-housing movement will have to overcome to produce meaningful and sustainable change in curtailing restrictive and exclusionary zoning practices and their harmful effects. Check it out here.
