Dear {{FirstName or 'friend'}}, What does a world without othering look, sound and feel like? Is it even possible to imagine a world where each and every one of us belongs? And what happens if we don't try?
In just six weeks from today 1,800 of us will be gathering in Oakland to kick off our first in-person Othering & Belonging Conference since 2019. We have dozens of speakers and performers lined up for three days of learning, growing and connecting, happening at the HJK Arts Center from April 25 - 27. Among the speakers are Pulitzer-Prize winning novelist Viet Thanh Nguyen, Palestinian scholar Sherene Seikaly, Mexican-American journalist Maria Hinojosa, Indigenous activist Nick Tilsen, and many others.
|
Some of the artists and performers who will be at our conference include ensemble Orchestra Gold, singer Melanie DeMore, pianist Kev Choice, harpist Destiny Muhammad, visual artist Christine Wong Yap, and several others, with more soon to be announced. As we mentioned before, there will be art installations in the conference hall, plus booths with book sales and signings from some of the authors.
We'll soon be announcing the full agenda and lineup of speakers. In the meantime check out our website for more information about the activities and speakers. We expect tickets for this conference to sell out soon, so grab yours before they are gone! Here are some of the artists and speakers who will be at our conference: |
