It is my honor to present the 28th issue of FIYAH Literary Magazine themed Belonging. If you read the complete set of Belonging Design Principles on our website then you all know that belonging asks us to commit to co-creating new structures built for everyone.
So during OBI's Arts & Culture collaboration with FIYAH Literary Magazine, I tasked the writers to show us how, where, and when Black folks belong. To write stories that not just imagine a better future but what bridges need to be crossed now as well.
The issue is available for digital download at $3.99, postcard for $3.00, and poster prices range from $32.00 -$35.00 pending size. 60% of the proceeds from the artwork goes directly to the indie illustrators.
FIYAH has also done thematic issues on Joy, Sound and Color, Palestine, and several Unthemed issues. They also provided a multicultural community space for Speculative (Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror) writers and readers alike online at Blue Sky, Twitter/X, and Instagram.
Much love, Christian M. Ivey |

WHAT IS ILLUMINATIONS? As our society faces increasing polarization and radicalization, this year's Illuminations theme of "Individual & Community" will empower us to explore the tensions that come into play while balancing the interests of the individual with the interests of the group. -
Illuminations launched during Cal Performances' 2020-21 season as a way to connect groundbreaking UC Berkeley scholarship to pressing themes taken up and explored by the world-class music, dance, and theater presented by Cal Performances.
- Illuminations programming, which includes performances, panel discussions, lecture demonstrations, Q&As, community conversations, and more, sheds light on pressing topics with the power to transform our understanding of the world and shape the future.

Doppelganger by Naomi Klein
Combining comic memoir with chilling reportage and cobweb-clearing analysis, Klein seeks to smash that mirror and chart a path beyond despair. Doppelganger asks: What do we neglect as we polish and perfect our digital reflections? Is it possible to dispose of our doubles and overcome the pathologies of a culture of multiplication? Can we create a politics of collective care and undertake a true reckoning with historical crimes? The result is a revelatory treatment of the way many of us think and feel now―and an intellectual adventure story for our times.
Robin D.G. Kelley speaks about Doppelganger by Naomi Klein.
