Hello Community, The transition from sheltering in place to returning to the outside world has been a unique and significant experience that has prompted us to contemplate, support, mourn, and innovate in order to establish a society where everyone belongs. Although it has been some time, it is time to shift away from Zoom and reunite in person...
We bring you exciting news about the "Othering and Belonging Conference" taking place in Berlin on October 26-27, 2023. This highly anticipated two-day event promises to be a significant platform for exploring ways to co-create democratic societies founded on justice and belonging in the face of increasing populism and global crises.
Theme Overview: - Reducing Fragmentation to Counter the Global Far Right: we will explore strategies to promote unity, empathy, and community cooperation.
-
Understanding the Tactics and Strategies of Authoritarian-Populists: we will show how authoritarian-populist leaders are weaponizing "othering" to sow division and undermine democratic principles.
-
Building Power Across Lines of Difference: we will explore ways to empower marginalized communities and bridge gaps between social, cultural, and ethnic groups.
The Othering and Belonging Conference in Berlin offers an unprecedented opportunity to engage with critical issues facing democratic societies today. Together, we can explore ways to counteract division and foster a sense of belonging rooted in justice and inclusivity.
Don't hesitate register and join fellow thinkers, artists, and change-makers such as Bayo Akomolafe, Ece Temelkuran, Indy Johar, Kathryn Nwajiaku-Dahou, and many more in this collective endeavor. SEE YOU IN REAL LIFE. Much love, Christian M. Ivey |
