Dear {{FirstName or 'Friend'}},
In just three weeks from today over 400 people will gather in Berlin for our next Othering & Belonging Conference, taking place Oct. 26-27. If you haven’t yet registered we hope you will do so soon -- over 75 percent of our tickets are gone, and we do expect the rest will soon sell out.

Our two-day agenda will be a deep-dive into how we can co-create more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable democratic societies rooted in belonging, amidst the reality of rising authoritarian-populism and intersecting global crises. Together with leaders from many geographies and areas of expertise, we will explore the following topics: -
Reimagining what’s possible: from authoritarianism and othering to democracy and belonging
- Renewing civic infrastructure in a time of populism and polycrisis
- Bridging to counter authoritarianism & advance belonging
- Charting shared tactics of anti-democratic movements from Türkiye to Texas
- Building coalitions against the populists' gender playbook
Mainstage sessions at the conference will also be livestreamed. Click here to register for the free livestream (registration is required). |
I'm thrilled to also announce our set of concurrent breakout sessions, led by partner organizations in Europe, on the following themes: -
Barriers to Bridging: Building relational skills to connect across difference, presented by Held Collective
- Combating Online Xenophobia and Seeding Narratives that Connect Us, presented by Define American
-
From Climate Change to Climate Justice: A BIPOC Perspective in Europe, presented by System Justice
- Mobilizing Communities Against Hatred: The Experience of the Electoral Engagement Campaign in Spain, presented by La Intersección
-
The Nature of Polarization and its Implications for Advancing Belonging within Contexts of Democratic Decline, presented by Institute for Integrated Transitions
- The Role of Philanthropy in Advancing Democracy and Belonging to Counter Authoritarianism, presented by Ariadne Network and EDGE Funders Alliance
-
Towards Gender Justice: Visions of Intersectional Organising, presented by Equinox Racial Justice Initiative
O&B 2023 will also feature facilitated networking time, music by conference DJ Sarah Farina, and a rich arts and culture component that we are co-curating with A Song For You, an ensemble project rooted in the Berlin neo-soul/RnB/HipHop scene. And we are so pleased to announce that Berlin-based curator and community leader Monika Jiang will be our conference emcee.
