The gathering on Oct. 26 and 27 brought together hundreds of attendees for a dynamic experience that included music, dance, presentations from leading scholars and activists, and deep conversations on the most pressing issues of our time. Here's what one of the speakers said: "I've never felt in a conference all of me showing up. So my head, my heart, and everything else. This is such a wonderful opportunity to connect everything: the music, the dance, the poetry..." - Kathryn Nwajiaku-Dahou

We recorded all the mainstage talks and posted them to our new learning platform, called OBI University, which you can watch after signing up for a free account. OBI University, which we're announcing now for the first time, offers free virtual courses built on the Othering & Belonging framework. After logging in, you'll find time-stamped videos from both days of the conference when you expand the headers under the agenda section (see image grab below).

You'll be hearing more from us soon with some additional highlights from this conference, as well as updates on our next Othering & Belonging Conference, taking place April 25-27, 2024 in Oakland, CA. |

Our call for a ceasefire
Hundreds more Palestinians have been killed in Israel's relentless bombardment of Gaza since we released our statement yesterday calling for an immediate ceasefire (with more than 9,000 deaths, including 3,700 children now recorded). We believe that all life is precious and that all people belong, and so we mourn every single loss, whether they are Palestinian or Israeli. We reiterate our call for an immediate ceasefire, which is not only consistent with any moral position that respects human life, but is also consistent with international law. Please read our statement.

Hawaii, New Zealand retain top spots in latest inclusiveness rankings
Last month we released the latest results of our annual Inclusiveness Index, which ranks states and countries by their levels of inclusion based on a number of indicators. The findings this year were similar to past studies, with Hawaii ranking as the most inclusive state for the sixth consecutive year, and New Zealand again ranking as most inclusive country. For the first time since OBI launched the Index in 2016, it now also includes an indicator for a country's response to the climate crisis by considering its change in greenhouse gas emissions.
See the full results of the 2023 study, and check out our press release which includes a summary of the main findings. Also see media coverage our latest study in this MSNBC opinion piece, and this NBC News article.

Can the activists trying to shut it down convince its 3,000 workers they’re on the same side?"
