Grief isn't easy and it is something we all have to deal with. You're invited to join OBI director john a. powell, Grief is a Sneaky Bitch Podcast host, Lisa Keefuaver, and our very own Sarah Crowell for OBI Presents: Recharge -Grief on December 8, 2023 from 5- 6:30 PM PDT. This edition of recharge will be an interactive communal healing event, where we'll come together to grieve, heal and remember we are better together than apart.

Request for Proposals (RFP): Socially Engaged Art Practice– Homelessness in Berkeley, CA
Berkeley Civic Arts seeks to commission two Socially Engaged Art Practice projects that respond to homelessness in Berkeley, CA as a complex social issue. Artist will be required to partner with unhoused individuals, or an organization in Berkeley that works directly with the unhoused population as part of their project. Apply here, by January 9, 2022.

Native American Artist Fellowships
The Indian Arts Research Center (IARC) offers three artist-in-residence fellowships annually to advance the work of established and emerging Native American artists. Each fellowship includes a monthly stipend, housing, studio space, a supplies allowance, full access to the IARC collections, and travel reimbursement to and from SAR. These fellowships provide time for artists to explore new avenues of creativity, grapple with new ideas to further advance their work, and strengthen existing talents. The deadline for applying to all artist fellowships is January 15, 2023.

Zellerbach Family Foundation Community Arts
Community Arts is a program of the Zellerbach Family Foundation and a vital part of the foundation’s mission to serve as a catalyst for constructive social change. This year, through a quarterly open application process, Community Arts will award approximately $1 million in grants to individual artists and nonprofit arts and culture organizations in the Bay Area. Grants will be awarded in $5,000, $10,000 and $15,000 amounts. |

A Collection of Free Illustrations on Bridging and Belonging
Democracy & Belonging Forum launched a collection of free illustrations on bridging and belonging for reuse in social justice campaigns globally with the arts organization Fine Acts. A diverse group of artists from Europe and the US were selected to explore the topics of bridging and belonging and represent them visually in their own styles.
